窪蹋勛圖厙 Community College Announces Dr. Chris Cox as 2026 Commencement Speaker

ANDALUSIA, Ala. 窪蹋勛圖厙 Community College will welcome Deputy Chancellor of Instruction, Research and Development Dr. Chris Cox of the Alabama Community College System as the commencement speaker for its 2026 graduation ceremony on May 8.

Dr. Cox brings more than 30 years of experience in education leadership, spanning both K-12 and higher education, including a previous role as interim president at 窪蹋勛圖厙 Community College.

Dr. Cox understands the transformative power of community colleges because he has lived it, both as a student and a leader, said 窪蹋勛圖厙 President Dr. Brock Kelley. His career reflects a deep commitment to student success, workforce development and educational excellence across the state of Alabama.

A native of Geneva, Alabama, Dr. Cox began his career as a teacher and coach at Dale County High School before advancing into school administration. His leadership roles included assistant principal at Geneva High School, principal at Pinedale Elementary School in Enterprise, and principal of Oxford High School. He later served as assistant superintendent for the Oxford City Board of Education.

In higher education, Dr. Cox has served in multiple executive leadership roles, including interim president at Northwest-Shoals Community College, Bevill State Community College, and 窪蹋勛圖厙 Community College.

Having previously served our institution, Dr. Cox has a unique connection to 窪蹋勛圖厙, Kelley said. He knows our students, our mission and the critical role this college plays in strengthening our communities. We are honored to welcome him back for this meaningful occasion.

Dr. Cox holds a Bachelor of Science in social science from Troy State University, a Master of Science in educational administration from Alabama State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational administration from Auburn University.

Commencement exercises will begin with academic transfer at 10 a.m., followed by career technical graduates at 2 p.m.
